They call Romanian transition the period between December 1989, from the violent days of the Revolution, and January 2007, when we joined the European Union. I call transition my childhood, a time-space flowing unhurriedly towards 'a better life', 'true capitalism', and 'original democracy'. Family photographs from this period are reimagined and returned home, on the site of inter-generational political negotiation. The family becomes the nation, and the formless in-between becomes a thirdspace, allowing thought to escape it and to look at it from the outside.
